Anyone have advice on a double din install for a 99 986?

I have a 99 986 in great shape with the exception of the radio. I would love any advice you would be willing to provide on installation, head unit choices, kits etc. on doing this double din mod. I will need to relocate my ac/heater controls down into one the two storage locations and would love to have a head unit with nav, bluetooth and the capability to alter the boot screen with the Porsche logo.

Thanks!!

buy the correct stuff

Buy the double din install kit from ebay. It makes it simple.

Simple is good.

I just did one on my 01. I purchased the 911 kit from sonicelectronix. I looked up the part numbers and it was supposed to be the same fit as the 986. I think I paid like $80 for the 911 kit.
I am not sure if it was or not, I had to grind down some of the plastic to get it to fit.

It wasn't really that difficult, it is much easier if you take out the center dash piece and then install the kit into it before attempting to mount the radio in it.

Check out the thread here for my 6.5" door speaker upgrade.
