AOS as a clean oil supply?
I am looking for a small source of clean oil. I hope I could tap into the oil cooler exit, but don't really want to tap into the pressurized engine oil supply.
I was thinking that the drain-back oil from the oil separator might be a good source of super clean oil. The oil would not have any particles of metal since the condensed oil is from vapor and mist. Almost distilled! The question is, does anyone know how much drain oil is collected and returned to the crankcase by the AOS? I could cut one apart, install a divider wall in the return plenum and by-pass the return plenum with a temporary holding tank to see how much oil is collected. But if anyone knows it would be helpful. |

Regardless of what you may read elsewhere, the only place you are going to get freshly filtered oil is at the filter itself (as Jake does for his IMS Solution) or at the oil cooler, any other source is going to be both hot and dirty. If you look inside a used AOS, clean it is not.
