2000 boxster rear trunk won't open with key
 

My cable inside car broke 4 months ago but didn't bother with it since my key opens it. Went to get oil changed yesterday and now the key won't open trunk!! You can hear it wanting to but won't. Called Porsche dealership and they quoted me $1000.00 or so to get into trunk and fix cable. I saw on forums that I can remove rear bumper and find an emergency cable. If I get started with this project, is this something I will be able to finish without any trouble ?!?! Thanks. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!! Frustrated and just thinking about buying a different car!
