Calling all Pro Porsche wrenches
Just trying to get an idea for estimated shop hours to change out an air oil separator on a 98 Boxster 2.5L. I think mine needs it and I'm not sure I want to dig into this job. Shop rate is not important but knowing what kind of time is involved would be helpful to decide if I need to DIY or support my local indy.
Got a clue?

I'm not a pro wrencher, but....
I have info from Mitchell for my '07 and the AOS has a flat rate of 2.1 hrs and 1.3 under warranty.
There is a note that this time includes the Remove/Inspection (R&I) of the oil pan. HTH Regards, paul...

Thanks Paul,
I believe 987s are an easier job but that sounds pretty reasonable to me. Anyone done an early 97-99 986 Boxster or know standard book rate in hrs.

2 hours normal shop rate.
Some of the 97-98 boxsters require updating the plastic pipe which goes to the intake from the aos due to length. |

Thanks Bell, that seems quite fair.
