Stupid battery - car won't start
So I guess I shouldn't complain, I'm not sure if the battery has ever been replaced in my 2006 Cayman S.
I went out yesterday turned the key and got lights radio and click click, failure messages on the dash and no turn over. Not the clutch pedal, felt like dead battery. Funny each time I would turn the key and try to start it, the drivers window would go down a little. I disconnected the battery and charged it up. I put a volt meter on it after charged and it only showed 10.2 V. I ran my Durametric and it showed 9.3 to DME then 0 once I tried to turn it over. I'll be heading to Porsche for a new battery tomorrow, so I thought I would pick up a few other items; a radiator expansion tank cap, and a clutch position sensor.

Update,
So I hooked up the new battery and she started up just fine. All of a sudden got PASM failure and PSM failure messages. Hooked up the trusty Durametric and checked all the fault codes. Strange ones like "steering position sensor not initialized", etc. I reset all the codes (lots of power ones), but still got the errors on screen. Checked power to DME through tool and it was over 14V while running so I knew it was good, reset the two codes again and took it out for a quick boot. The codes went away while driving. I reset the fault (with no codes) on the steering one (I think) and saw the PSM diagnostics message on the screen but no on screen errors popped up. I will take her out for a longer drive later, but I have to say I love the Durametric software... Bob
