986 exhaust note vs. 986S - any different?

Hey all-

I placed a WTB ad for a 986 exhaust for my non-member neighbor, and someone replied offering an OE S rear muffler.

My question is: for someone seeking some additional sound but nothing overly overt... is this a good / viable option?

(and/or - anyone got anything else to offer maybe?)

They might not be interchangeable from a 3.2 to the 2.5 or 2.7. I'd check part numbers first.

good point - it's an '02 so that's 2.7...

anyone know fitment / additional sound?

Fitment & sound will be the same. "S" has the twin outlet tips.

I have a "S" muffler for sale if you can pickup in So. CA

1997-1999 mounting is different & I think the inlet "U" pipes are different. It can be made to fit but I've never done it.
