Air Horns stuck on
Another problem I found on our 'interesting' Boxster was the horn relay had been pulled and re-installing it just made the horn blow constantly, - the circuit downstream of the relay indicated an earth fault but on taking the steering wheel apart I found it was the switch in the wheel.
The 'spring force' to separate the contacts in the steering wheel is provided by four rubber grommets which support the center of the wheel and the air-bag assembly. The rubber gromets had got tired of supporting all this weight and decided to just let everything rest on the contacts! My DIY fix was to buy a steel spring from Home Depot and cut two lengths so that it when fixed to the back of the air-bag support plate, placed so they pushed against the rubber part of the steering wheel assembly and therefore they do not form a contact to earth themselves, they assist the rubber gromets in keeping the horn contacts apart.

I know this is an old post but seems a common issue. I just tried what Mike describes (at least my interpretation of it) and works great. I did add electrical tape to the bottom of the springs to insure they don't ground. Springs are held in place with jb weld. The worn out grommets keep everything centered. Thanks for the post. Bob
