2001 boxster s evap system, new pix
Hi experts out there, it's been a while since I've had some issues and I could use some help. I've added arrows and reoriented pix, as I hadn't gotten any responses on the last post, to hopefully make things more clear.
Firstly, this is a 2001 boxster s. I've been having trouble filling the fuel tank hence i looked at the evap system under the passenger side wheel well (front) as suggested by Wayne in the tech site. Also, upon driving for a bit, the car fails to start, and the idling became odd. I cleaned the throttle body, no effect. In that wheel well, I found two hoses that were disconnected, and not sure where they go, or if they are just vents. One disconnected hose is on the evap side of the wheel well (yellow arrow in first picture), the other tube is toward the front of the car in the wheel well, toward the lights (yellow arrow in second picture). Any thoughts how and if these hoses are to be connected? My carbon canister setup seems different than the one posted on Wayne's post. . Thank you. Dan ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My first thought was the unattached hose could be a drain for the front trunk. You might check and see if water drains from there is you runs some on the windshield area. I'll tell you what caught my eye though was the wear on the coolant pipe. Looks like you might be running tires a bit too wide or something for that to wear. You don't want a hole in that line!

I'll keep an eye and re-check that wear. But I think regarding the hoses, something should be connected to the bottom of the carbon canister. Any thoughts from anyone? Is it the hose I'm holding? Unfortunately that hose doesn't have a secure fit into the hole shown in 2nd pic.

Not sure about the hose attachment. I can tell you that I solved the fuel filling problem by simply holding the fill handle at the 3 o-clock position. Sounds to simple but it works. Good luck.
