CEL Code P0306 and DME Relearning
 

Please educate me on this project!

Changed spark plugs (Bosch Platinum+4 #4417) and fuel filter (Mahle KL-80) per Pelican's tech instructions on the wife's '01 Boxster with 42K miles.

Upon starting, the car failed to start until the second attempt. I assumed it was the fuel filter purging air and allowing the fuel to flow. Immediately after the car started, I got a 10-second blinking CEL followed by a solid light. Car ran rough but drivable.

Hooked up to OBD meter and I got a P0300 (Generic Misfire), P0301 (Misfire, Cylinder 1), and P0306 (Misfire, Cylinder 6). Reset and the codes came back.

The next morning, I zeroed out the codes, then drove the car with the same blinking 10-second blinking then solid CEL. When I put the meter on again, it on read P0306. Zeroed out and reread three times with the same code.

Two questions. First, what may be causing the code (potential loose wire, bad spark plug, something else)? Read the threads in Pelican's blog for potential causes and fixes.

Second question is: Is there anything about the DME "relearning"? I have read about the "drive cycles" and have seen mention of the DME relearning to adjust to lean/rich mixtures. Could this be why I suddenly lost the P0300 and P0301 codes? Should I just drive a while and see if it corrects itself?

Bottom line... I owe giving the car back to the wife in good working order or all

How does the car run? I had P306 and it was a loose electrical connector to the fuel injector.

You have two misfiring cylinders, #1 and #6. I would start by making sure you have fully seated the wire connectors on the coils on those two cylinders.
