Head light removal

I see through the DIY forums, and youtube. Removing the headlights is rather simple. It comes out in one piece. Is there a way to separate the lens? I'd like to get inside and give it a good cleaning. I have a 97, they have yellowed slightly. I would like to clean/refinish the inside and try and bring them back closer to new.

I'm thinking that taking the assembly apart will be a fairly destructive process. Maybe pick up a second hand unit from eBay and see what you can figure out?

Removal is super easy (there is a tool in you kit that helps)
You can pop out the bulbs and fish around a bit to clean .
Other than that the clear lens is part of (glued to) the the housing.
It CAN be taken apart . then re glued .. not for the faint of heart.
Search "Joey Mod" for a Mini Cooper (it is not the VW golf style) to get an idea how to take the light apart.
I do them for MINIS and the process is the same.
