Hi Pelican, I have a 986s 2001. When I start it up the revs jump to 2,200 and come down slowly as it warms up eventually settling at 1,100 approx when warm. The CEL is on and has been since august but have been told not to worry. This problem with tickover started in january last week any ideas?

Sounds like a vacuum leak. I would start by checking the DME for fault codes. If the system is not working properly, a fault code will be set. This will be your best bet when diagnosing.

Get the car scanned and see what codes are triggering the CEL, go from there....
