repleceable IMS cutoff date ?

Can someone confirm I'm remembering right ? Looking at a 2005 base 987 - it should have the old engine and an easily replaceable IMS bearing (while doing a clutch job), correct ?

The newer 06 cars are not easily replaceable without splitting the case, as I recall. Is that correct? I'm hoping that wasn't a mid 05 change, or that there is a surefire way to know.

thx !

2004. It is impossible to tell which style bearing is in any 2005; all of the "supposed" methods (VIN#, engine #, build dates, etc.) have proven completely unreliable, and all 2006 cars carry the oversized bearing.
