02 986 immobilizer/ Alarm brain board cleaning up and questions
Hello guys,
This weekend I took off the immobilizer and found some serious corrosion on board. I have a few questions and I want your input. 1. I basically wash the board with hot tap water...and then a spray can of electronic component cleaner from autozone. I think it is fine as long as you dry it well before power on.. I dry it with shop towel and hair dryer.... I think it is ok... 2. On the 1st pic you can see the pins that go into the blue connector are badly corroded. There are two pins that have some serious issues (I marked in the pic). somebody may argue it was intentional left blank by factory but I don't think so....I think they are corroded. Without them being fixed, car is not able to run properly... Question is how to fix it. I can run fly wires from the pins to connect them with the wire harness directly. However, how am I suppose to know which 2 wires are connected to the two pins? The only way that i can think of to find out is to strip the insulation of every wire in the harness and do continuity check to find out....Do you have better ways, or documentation that shows which pin goes to what color wire? 3. The fuse socket is so corrected and i will have to take it off. one leg is already broken and not making connection. Do you know where i can find the replacement fuse holder? If not, i will have to replace it with a standalone fuse holder sticking out from the box. Well...i am ok with it.. 4. The fuse socket says 10A. But the fuse i pulled out is 15A. Does it mean it was messed by someone else before? 5. Note the 2nd picture. below the ULN2803 Darlington Driver. There are unused weld pad. Looks like they were left by factory....Or...maybe there was something but is not there anymore??? I am paranoid.... I need your input guys..... I will try to fix it and see if it works....... ![]() ![]() ![]() |
