Boxster roof will not open

I am rebuilding a 2000 2.7 Boxster bought as a damaged repairable after previous owner had left the road with it.

Stuck with what should be a simple operation? i.e. how to open the roof.

I have the ignition on, have released the latch lever and pushed the roof button on the dashboard but there is no movement.

Is there anything else I need to do to ensure the procedure can go ahead?

Is there a sensor on the boot/trunk lid or handbrake that I need to check?

Its bound to be something simplistic. Unfortunately I have no owners manual for this car..............yet.

The handbrake needs to be set and the engine running or engine off and ignition "ON".

You might also check the fuse. Good luck.
