Brake wear indicaor
My brakes were in need of replacing, even though the wear indicator had not come on yet. I had the pads, rotors, sensors replaced, but they called and sAID the wear indicator is now illuminated and they couldn't turn it off. Does it need to be exterminated using piwis, or will it go off on its own after some amount of time or distance? Will Durametric work to turn it off? Or was something done wrong? I had a non porsche shop replace the brakes and they don't have a software program. I do have durameteric, but before I pick it up, I would like to get an idea if something could have been done wrong. I can't think of anything unless they put the wear sensors on wrong, although these guys are good mechanics who sometimes do Porsche work, albeit simple stuff. They have done my brakes before on this car and my 968.

Yeah, I found that out when I picked the car up. They replaced the sensors. The guy gave up after working on it for several hours, including replacing the sensors again. Durametric doesn't see anything from the cluster until 2002 models and I couldn't turn it off anyway. I can't figure out why the light is lit. The pads are brand new and no way anything is touching, so something in the electrical circuit must be open or shorted to ground. I can't see that anything was done incorrectly. He replaced pads all around, rotors on the front. Said the rotors on the back were fine. Juyst scratching my head for now

If you're a cheapskate like me you can "fix" the wear sensor. When the sensor touches the rotor and the wire gets worn through from rubbing on the rotor it then turns the light on. After putting new pads on you can solder the broken wire together and then its just like new again.
