Hi all, I have a 987 Boxster 3.4S, circa 2006. 72,000 miles, I bought it 4 weeks ago and have covered 1300 miles
![]() Initially upon starting it emitted white smoke, and engine warning light came up, so we changed the oil/air separator and all good. Some heavy soot deposits remain around the exhaust pipe, but this may be residue from the faulty separator? The coolant is clear of oil and no oil leaks. Truth is, this is my first Porsche so I am not sure if like other performance cars I have owned, it uses oil in this quantity or not? The engine revs 'turbine sweet', with no starting or apparent driving performance issues. It has passed an emissions test and checked out ok by the (none Porsche) selling garage. It is under a 3 month warranty with them. Can anyone help please and advise if they know of this type of car using this level of oil, or do I need to have it checked out? |

They do use oil but that seems excessive. I do not know much but from what I have read, not much extra oil so make sure to keep an eye on level. I would drive with constant eye on oil level. Fix if doesn't improve.
