I have a 2003 Porsche 996 with a CD-R 23 Bose amp and 6 CD changer.i believe it has a fibre optic connection. Is it possible to use the amp and speakers with an aftermarket head unit ? I have tried an aftermarket ISO harness that connected power and also the yellow conector to th unit, I was told the yellow connector would send power to the amp ? Thing is the head unit powers up but no sound ! Is it because the system is fibre optic ? Is there a way around this problem ? Thanks.

The no sound issue is probably related to the breakage in the optical (MOST bus) network. Did the adapter you installed include a bypass for the optical connector? The optical connector is the two wire connector with the orange fiber cables connected. You can try to install a loop on the connection which used to go to the factory head unit. Being a ring bus the MOST bus needs to have a complete loop in order for it to function. I am not sure if an aftermarket head unit will work with the MOST bus.
