Tools needed for front strut replacement
Anyone know what tools I will need to complete replacing the front struts on a 2000 Boxter S. I need large channel locks, ramps, jack, stands. How about sockets and wrenches? My tools are limited so I will need to borrow stuff before I start.
Also, the instructions for strut replacements on Pelican say to mark the location of the three bolts on the strut mount that come through the fender. Maybe I am overthinging this, what if that is getting replaced as well. Not sure how to line up to where it was. Any tips? David |
If you are reusing your stock springs, you will need a spring compressor to get the struts apart and back together again.

yup, thats it. need a good spring compressor. removal is not too bad. But must compress spring. remember to mark everything
within the strut assembly before reinstalling everything |
How long should strut replacement take for someone who is mechanically inclined? My friend is helping me. He says if it takes him longer than 2hrs, he will sell me his tools. He works a lot on early and mid year 911's. Besides the warning switch on the brakes, is it much more difficult?
Thanks. |
