Question '97-'99 to '00-'03 Shifter Swap/Short Shifter

Anybody here did it or know of any one who did? Is is just a simple replacement or do you have to modify it to fit at all? How about short shifters--any recomendations from personal experience?

3 more mods left, then I'm done:

Well, now I know the 2000 on shift knob & boot fit on '99's and earlier because there's a graphite grey 911 one in there now--now to just get one in the right color and with the right shift pattern printed on it

All 1997-2003 shifters interchange. I have a 2000 shifter on my 1997. Like you said, the only difference is the shift pattern if it comes from a Boxster S or a 996, as they have 6 speeds.

Our local Boxster group gets together to install shift kits. B&M seems to be the favorite.
