In figure 3, just in front of the oil sensor, there is a boss in the cylinder head casting. In my car 986 Boxster S, 2002, there is a part called a connecting piece 996 104 207 53 loosely press fitted in the boss but with nothing connected to it. What is the purpose of the piece and what if anything should be connected to it?

It is a plug, I believe to fill a hole a solenoid could go into.
