Degree of difficulty question - oil level sensor replacement
I have an oil level sensor fault on my 2002 Boxster S. I have consulted the Tech Info section and I see that to replace the sensor, I need to loosen the throttle body assembly and remove the left side air intake manifold. The manifold appears to be secured with Torx bolts. Is the removal of the manifold a reasonable task for a home/garage mechanic? I will have to buy the Torx sockets before attempting this. I am told it is a 2 hour job by the local independent shop.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
It is fiddly work, but it can be done. The sensor is #13, which is a combined oil level and temperature sensor:

Here's a pic of how far you have to dig. Not fun but doable.
