Need help with brake issues
 

I have replaced the brake booster in my 00 986 non PDK.

When I bled the brakes the rear brakes wouldn't bleed, ie no barke fluid comes out when the nipple is loosened & the pedal is pumped. The fronts bled fine.

Took it for a test drive anyway & the front barkes locked on. I have heard that this can be cause by air still in the lines.

Have the car back & up on jacks & have re bled the fronts but the reas's still won't bleed.

Any idea's & advice welcomed.

It may be advantageous to put the rear as high as safely possible .
Without a pressure bleed system ,I doubt you will succeed.

If you have problems with air in the ABS or other ABS issues, that is a different remedy.

Thanks guys. I don't have a preasure bleeder but it looks like I will have to get one.

What's the remedy for air in the ABS as I am thinking that will bee an issue as well.

You will need a Porsche specific scan tool (PST II, PIWIS, Durametric) to activate the control network in order to get the air out.

Which one is the most cost effective?

I'm in Aus & will probably need to purchase online.

Durametric for less than $300; a PIWIS (lease only) will set you back $20K (US) for the first year.

What does the Durametric do with the air in the ABS. Is it a light that need to be turned off or something else. I bought one to turn my airbag light off but have no idea what else it does. I did see the number of hours on the engine. That was pretty cool. I just thought of a new question I will post.

It's my understanding that the ABS can lock up if it gets air in it. Which it seems to have done here.

The Durametric should allow me to open up the vales or whatever they use so I can bleed the brakes.

Purchased a durmatetric & it tells me nothing. Still very confused.

Ok. Here is where I'm at. Durametric says Module failed to initialise.

You are using a woefully out of date version (at least 10 years out of date) of the Durametric system, and judging by the version number, it also probably a clone as well, which may be part of your problem.

With a functional Durametric system, usually the message you are seeing indicates that either there is a wiring problem preventing the module from connecting, or the module itself is suspect.
