Heater a/c passenger side blower

I've owned my '97 Boxster for 5 years. I wondered about a funny clunking noise under the dash. When I removed the panel under passenger air bag area, a small blower (fan) dropped down. The connector is attached and is energized when I activate heater a/c fan control. I suspect previous owner did something and forgot to put fan back. I also suspect it belongs in duct or louver part at far right of dash. I can not find drawings or tech specs to help me get it where it belongs. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I figured it out.

Hi
As I took things apart, I figured out that the fan/blower in question is to be mounted beneath the louvers of passenger side heat a/c louver assembly. It is behind a perforated insert that is the passenger side equivalent of the light switch. If my photos load it will make sense. The fan/blower is not inside the duct. Looks to me that it just circulates air around inside the dash. Beats me. If anybody knows the function of this fan, please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks!

On my vehicle it just snapped it. There are three torx head screws that hold the louver assembly in place, but none of them screw into the fan part. No big deal. Problem solved. Thanks.
