Boxster 986 2.5 fuel pump - what to choose?

Hi,

I tried to post my problem here before, but it never got on board. So now when I actually got to the point my fuel pump is malfunctioning and I need to replace here comes a very technical question.

My pump had 1HO 906 091 C code on it (the metal part), I found only one in UK but without specs.

I was given specs that the FP for Boxster 986 need to have around 4 bars and fuel flow around 102 L/H

quoting:
"two measurements a static measurement with no engine vacuum (engine not running, fuel pump activated) that is 3.8 +/- 0.2 Bar and the second measurement with the engine idling (vacuum to the FPR) is 3.3 Bar +/- 0.2 Bar for fuel pressure at the rail and fuel flow should be around 850 cubic cm in 30/40 secs."

All I got in my country is ideally looking same pump for VW (code is 1HO 906 091) that specs are 3 BAR, 100 L/H that would fit in. Is that enough?

Anyways anyone have specs for 1HO 906 091C fuel pump regarding BAR and L/H? as if they are the same to the one I can buy in the shop I will do that.

The specs I've given are found on the internet - something called Cannel manual - but despite that I guess those pumps are exactly the same... anyone can shine some light at that matter?

Best Regards
Pawel

Thanks for any support!

Why not just by the correct pump for the car rather than trying to reinvent the wheel? Guess wrong and you could end up damaging the car, or worse,

Well it's just price difference, having it from reliable company from my backyard and shipping time.

But being honest I'm also in favor of the one from UK with same code - it's just opinion of other that got me thinking why pay 3 x more and wait more than a week if you can have a pump with same spec in 1 day...

Well, I just wanted to make sure of the differences. That's how I am.

And a pump with the exact same specs, but built to fit in a different tank, may not even fit in your tank correctly.

Hi again,

So I got some reply's from the shops I made inquiry's in.
The UK shop (merlinmotors) after contacting supplier about spec for pump IPT312 (Sytec) was given info that other pump IPT331 should be fitted into Boxster according to their catalog.
After exchanging few emails and providing them photos of the fuel pump I took out of my Boxster they contacted Sytec again and they agreed that it is the same as IPT312, so the shop provided me with the specs that actually match what I need for Boxster. Here are the specs:

PRESSURE (BAR)-----FLOW (LTR/MIN)------AMPS
1---------------------------3.25---------------5
2--------------------------- 2.8----------------5.5
3--------------------------- 2.5----------------6.2
4--------------------------- 2.1----------------7
5--------------------------- 1.75--------------7.3
6--------------------------- 1------------------8
7.2 0 9

I also looked at custom pump that probably could fit from deatshwerks (the specs are obviously higher) but it's mostly for track or modded cars.

If anyone have any ideas or objections please speak them out. I'm posting it here just so someone can check the specs they need.

Kind Regards

The thing is that all those pumps 1H0 906 091 would fit perfectly (not regarding specs). The have been desinged for VW, Audi. Porsche used the exactly same pump (as it's part of the same company group) but with 1H0 906 091C - I assume the C meant that it has higher specs then the others.

That is what I was looking for - all the pumps I had at my backyard didn't had enough specs according to Porsche requirements. The one branded by Sytec ITP312 (might be walbro or similar) pump has higher specs despite it is also sold as a pump to VW Golf III for example.

All this is because my wallet right now dosn't allow me to buy the full pump package from Porsche for 350 USD. That's why I'm going just for the inside of the pump (the part that actually malfunctioned) all the rest is just plastic & hoses.
