Drivers Seat Height Adjustment
Hi All!
I purchased a lovely 1998 Boxster last week; LOVING her!!! My question is this: The drivers-side seat is much lower than the passenger side. I have done everything I can after following online searches. i.e. Pulling up on the handle on the side of the seat and putting all my weight down hard on it. It will not budge. I can see on the side that the seat is able to collapse several inches more, but it's frozen stiff. I don't want to break it, obviously. Upon further inspection, when I climbed down to look, I discovered several wires, and contacts, etc. When I pull up on the adjusting lever, I see a small arm disengage from a tiny coil. But nothing happens. Does this mean the seat is electric, and, perhaps, the motor is bad? Or I'm missing a connection? The car seems to have a few electronic glitches, so I'm wondering if, perhaps, this is one. Can anyone advise at to what to do, before I take her to a mechanic and pay? Maybe there's some troubleshooting I can do? Being 6'3" tall, I am BADLY in need of the extra room! Thanks so much!!!!! DS. |
