soft top tension cables
I found a broken tension cable for the soft top. I ordered part # 986-561-191-02, but found it was too short. This cable is only 8.5" long, edge to edge. The cables I have are 10.375". The cables do have the circlip locking pin/clip, but the new cable ordered 986-561-191-02 did not, so I am confused.
Has anyone run into this? There is not way these cables stretched that long, so clearly there is a mismatch here. Maybe I have an aftermarket top? Anyone have an idea, or source ? Last edited by pelsteve1; 02-11-2016 at 10:12 AM.. |

issue resolved...i think..
996-561-191-00 fits 996 99-2005 and 997s cabs 986-561-191-02 is for Boxster 97-2004 and Boxster S 00-04 The 986 cable is longer than the 996 one. I ordered the 986 part, but was sent the 996 part. The 986 is about 10 3/8" in long, 996 is approx 8 1/2" |
