Rodents
Hello all,
I just pulled my Boxster out after having it sit for a while and thought I would do a visual inspection before taking it out for run. For the most part, everything looks good, however after looking in the engine compartment, I found something had taken up residence and made a comfy home on the top part of the engine compartment under the throttle body / intake manifold (drivers side). After cleaning everything out, I found a yellow wire chewed on (but not severed) and a blue and white one total chewed through. The car starts and runs fine, everything seems to work no CEL...does anyone know what these wires do? How tough of a job would it be to replace them?...It looks like I'd need to remove the throttle body and/or the intake manifold. I've attached a picture of what's left. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. ![]() Last edited by rsf; 04-17-2016 at 08:44 AM.. Reason: Fixed title |

I had a similar problem where some tree rats or other rodents were living and storing acorns on top of my 2000S engine. Thankfully all they did was chew some foam insulation. I added a screen over the right hand side engine louver in case they were entering that way though likely were just coming up from below.
