Brake Pad Replacement

I'm weighing options for replacement pads in my '07 Cayman S. It seems like there are a lot of options for the stock system (Big Reds). I want a good performance pad for street, with the possibility of doing a DE day somewhere down the line, but I don't need to get nutty with upgrades. Will I notice much difference between pads? It seems as though the Hawk or Porterfield pads are good, reasonably-priced options -- are these direct "drop-ins" to the stock system?

Also: I realize that most of the stopping power comes from the front of the car; considering this, is it reasonable to get "good" pads for the back (Mintex, for example), and then "very good" pads on the front (e.g., Hawks)? Or should they always match?

Thanks in advance!

Old thread, but figured I'd post for anyone else that may be curious.

I'm a big fan of HAWK. Their ceramic pad option will be the quietest and produce less dust than their HP and HP+ options. 2007 Porsche Cayman S Hatchback - Brake Performance Upgrades - Page 1 They are a direct fit. The HP and HP+ will be a better track alternative pad.

I always prefer to get the same type of pads on all 4 corners for the best result. Also, I'd recommend some good brake fluid for when you take it to the track, such as Ate Typ200. I've used it for many many years as a daily and track fluid with great results. 2007 Porsche Cayman S Hatchback - Brake Hydraulics - Page 2

I also complimented my pads, rotors, and fluid upgrades with SS brake lines, which you can check out here 2007 Porsche Cayman S Hatchback - Brake Performance Upgrades - Page 2

If anyone has any questions let me know.

Just for street and DE factory pads are fine, change the fluid every two years thought
