Will a "computer memory saver" work?
I have to get into the driver side door on my 2004 Boxster to change the regulator. I am worried about losing my Bose radio when I disconnect the battery, and I can't find a code for the radio. I thought a 9 volt "computer memory saver" might work, and I purchased one. It is only putting out one volt even though it runs on a 9v battery. Would this work? I am the second owner, and I know that the battery was replaced at some point before I bought the car six years ago.
Thanks for any advice. Tony |

Replaced the regulator today.
I did successfully replace the regulator today; a rather long and tricky job. I did not use the "computer memory saver"; I disconnected the negative terminal from the battery (several times during the course of the day), did the job, and did not lose the radio, and did not have any problem with error codes (I was worried about the airbag). I don't know why any of the Porsche dealer service people I talked to did not know that I would not lose the radio or computers on this 2004 Boxster, but maybe one never knows. I had to do this because the window would not drop the few millimeters needed to clear the convertible top. My main source was of course "101 Projects for Your Porsche Boxster", and a few helpfull youtube videos.
