986 2003S new roof stops a little short when putting it up. I can push it forward enough to engage the latch, but am concerned this gap may cause too much tension on the latch. The roof was recently installed by a technician specializing in new convertible roofs - I took it back, he said he adjusted it and that the new roof needs to stretch a bit & over time it will relax and latch correctly. Is this the case? If not, is there something I can adjust, or should I return it again?

That sounds logical depending on how much you have to pull the top to latch it. I'd say an inch is my maximum, I fit is more than that I'd say take it back or call around and get other opinions.

Yes
stretching the roof for a few days in the closed position is normal. See how it is after that time.
