Surge?

I have a 1998 986, 5 spd, 28k miles. The only accessory is the EVo intake. I just had the 30k service done. It run's great. The surge issue/question is this...I live in Atl GA and the weather is typically warm, but on those chilly/cold mornings, usually about 5 minutes into the drive and at my first stop light, the car will be sitting at idle, kick down, sound like it might stall, then surge ( it makes a split second crack noise in the radio ) and it's fine. It usually only does this first thing in the morning and only one time. It doesn't seem to hurt anything. I just wonder if it's common. Any idea what this is? Thanks

Anyone would be guessing. I trust you had no fault codes as they should have hooked you up to the PST2 at the 30k service. A shot in the dark - there is a DME remap for 1999 and older. This is to cure a bad idle when the a/c is on. Jeff

I agree with Tool Pants. DME remapping has been reported to solve similar problems. It takes five minutes and costs little. You should consider it anyway because it cure known problems.

We would all be guessing at any other issue. I have heard reports of similar problems which cannot be reproduced. Check the archives on Porsche Pete's Boxster Board for more ideas.
