Question re window dropping on 2001 Boxster S

Just purchased a 2001 Boxster S and the windows dip properly when opening but go back up when the handle is released. Shouldn't they stay dipped while the door is open? I have to sorta half latch the door when closing before they dip again. Then fully close the door. This can't be right?

The window should drop when the handle is lifted and the door opened, and remain down until the door is closed again. If you lift the handle slightly, but don't open the door, the window should return to its closed position when the handle is released.

Sounds as though the micro switch on the latch is not working properly. Try operating the latch with a flat blade whilst the door is open.

Yep, I think its the micro switch. When I pull it up with a pair of needle nose pliers the window dips down to where it should be. So I'm assuming the micro switch is the problem. Do I need to replace the whole door latch mechanism?
