2014 Boxster - Flood / Water damaged

Guys -
anyone want to chime in on this car that is up for auction on Copart ?
It has only 9k miles, PDK, many, many options...MSRP was $55k.
Beautiful mahogany metallic finish....with 20" rims.

What would you bid on it ?
What would you estimate the cost to put it back to full running condition given an independent certified shop would do the work ? (not a dealer) ?

Right now, the engine starts....but many of the other electronics are shot.
Definitely needs new carpet, but the seats look salvagable.
Of course, there's a ton of electronics just for the seats, so that will have to be replaced.
I'm thinking about $10k in repair costs....
what say ye ?

First talk to a reliable independent mechanic, than check with the interior designer. check out if it is difficult for you to remove the things yourself (at the mechanic's shop).
$10G would be a fair price.

By the way, if you need any replaceable USED PARTS, check with AUTO RESTORE GLOBAL, located in Tampa Florida. He has many parts for Boxsters, including interior.

Unless you are very talented and have a well equipped shop, and are ready to completely disassemble the car and put it back together with some pretty expensive parts, after which you will end up with a car you will never get your money out of, I'd say run away...........

A professional will have inspected the car and will know exactly how high the water got.

Air bags and sensors, everything behind the dash, the seats and their mechanisms, filters, carpets, door panels, immobilizer, HVAC controls, radio, window controls and mechanisms, door sensors, etc etc.

$55k MSRP is not a very high price.

Let a professional handle it and then try to sell a salvage titled car.

There is a company near me that sells wrecked and flooded cars. I receive e-mails from them regularly with updates on their inventory. The prices on the flooded cars are so attractive and they don't look too bad, so I'm constantly tempted to buy one.

To deter myself, I search on the term "Flood Car". The advice I see in response is similar to that of JFP and Mike Focke. I think that guys like me and the OP would quickly find ourselves in over our heads.

People tempted to buy flood cars seem to forget that many states now require that the fact it is a flood car becomes a permanent part of the car's title information, which screams "Problems" to any potential buyer down the road. If you are looking to build a track car, a stripped down flood car is perfect, a street car, not so much..............
