oil in coolant.... Help!!

ok, here we go... 02 boxster with a 00 S motor in her after an ims bearing failure a couple years ago... I came outside to notice a puddle of oil under the car, i popped the trunk and checked the oil to find it low and then removed the coolant reservoir cap to find the mocha colored mix when oil mixes with coolant.. i know the worst case scenario in which case, anyone wanna buy a car? lol .. but i've been reading in my research that the oil cooler failing could also allow oil to get into the coolant.. i have no signs of coolant in the oil and the car doesn't smoke... anyone have any experience with this problem? also, can the aos squeal on start up? ...Thanks for any input!!!

it's possible a cracked cylinder or head could have a one way preference that the path is pressurized and oil enters the coolant chambers, but not the other way.

I can't remember if the AOS is cooled with coolant or not.

Worst case? Where are you located?

Mike

An 02 Boxster would have a dry AOS.

You might check your oil cooler. Sorry to hear.

You need to get that completely out of the system as soon as possible. If you leave it in there you will need to replace every hose and have the rads dipped to be cleaned. It simply will not get clean enough. Ask me how I know! There are about $1500 bucks worth of hoses to replace, never mind the engine repair or replacement. You have an intermix situation. Either a cracked head or some other failure allowing oil and coolant to mix.

And be prepared for literally hours of labor. We have cleaned out several of these and it takes time, fortitude, and good equipment. Not fun........
