Lid lever arm re attach

Hello out there, I have 98 base that I have the lid disconnected at the lever arm pins to pivot the lid nearly vertical. Great access to the top of the engine. Now I want to put everything back and I am unable to get the lever arms back on the pins. Is there some secret trick to this or must it be forced.the Bentley manual says " assembly is reverse of removal". Really!

Thanks

This was the lid covering the convertible top and engine cover. I had for the first time released the lower pivots for the lid allowing it to be rotated vertical getting out of the way. This was done to get access to the Air Oil Separator to remove and replace it. BTW this for me was no where near as easy a project as I'd been led to believe.
Anyway closing things up turned out to be a challenge. I had figured since the geometry had not moved re attaching the pivots should be straight forward, nope.
With the assistance of my wife I jogged the top switch until I could get things back together.

Have someone push the top button on your dash and you help move the rod into position to connect with the lid. You'll need to do it to both sides, not hard at all.

Brian :)
