Break Rotors

Me and my brother replaced the rotors, break pads, sensors and shims this morning on my 986. It really was a piece of cake. Except...we took it on a rest run to see if there were going to be any problems and after hitting the breaks a few times there was a high screeching noise and the brief sound of dragging a muffler. Lasted about 5 seconds; it happened twice. Couldnt figure out what the heck??? Nothing looked abnormal? I came to the conclusion it was the zinc coating wearing off the new rotors. The wore off zinc was like little balls of metal. At LEAST i hope the sink debris was the noise? Any thoughts?
