My ODB II port seems to have stopped transmitting on my 986. I have a drive tracking device that stays plugged into the OBD port and it stopped recording data as of 10 days ago. I tried connecting my 2 different OBD readers which have always worked and neither one can establish a connection to the port now. Cigarette lighter plug is still working I had read where the OBD port and cig lighter plug might share a fuse. Any ideas why I can't get a reading from the port?

Check terminal 4 for ground and terminal 16 for power. See attached.

We had trouble with the Cig lighter assembly on one of our 986's. Upgraded the assembly and lighter. The connection was greatly improved(connectivity issues went away), but don't know if that is exactly your issue.

Checked power

I confirmed that the OBD II is getting power (pin 16). Did a check of several fuses that all were good. Not sure what to check next - appreciate any thoughts.

Update to OBD problem

After some more investigating, I found some water under the driver seat (around the ECU) and suspect it sustained some water damage. Considering replacing the ECU - how hard is it to get the replacement ECU programmed for my car? Thoughts? I appreciate any advice.

Its toast, either used, decent unit or new. I'd clean out your chassis drains or this will just happen again. Sorry to hear, hope you get it back into shape.
regards
