Boxster Top Sporadic Operation

Have a 2010 Boxster S with pdk. For some time now top operations have been sporadic.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Obviously this is a major frustration - why do you have a Boxster - to put the top down and enjoy!

Have replaced the switch in the console. The shop I use had the car for 10 days in June and opened and closed 40 to 50 times with no problems. I wonder if there is an error in my approach to this operation. Just Thursday another dealer's service manager said - engine on, transmission in park, and emergency brake on. It worked once in 4 times. Have tried the same process Friday and Saturday with no results.

I believe there must be something which is loose or not making the proper connection on a consistent basis.

Anyone have the misfortune to have this experience? Your thoughts and advice will be appreciated.
