Hello - are you inquiring about what the biggest tire that will fit without any modifications such as spacer or are you okay with using spacers if needed? I'm also attaching a really helpful guide on wheel fitment and spacing/offset below.

I just went through this with changing the wheels on my BMW 530xiT...(that car has another problem because it's a 4WD...so I am aware of the offset etc....)
I was just thinking to make the rear look wider with bigger tires, I'd avoid spacers if possible. I thought to use bigger tires on the o/e 18" wheels.
How "big" can I go?

Assuming your rear wheels are stock, they are 9" wide. 275 is the widest tire which will fit properly.
