Electrical issues on 2000 Boxster s

When I pull the key out of the ignition and open the door the warning buzzer comes on and if I don't unhook the battery it will die. The key fobs don't unlock the doors or trunk. Hopefully some one can steer me in the right direction for diagnosis.

Hello Jim and welcome to the forum! Just to clarify, what dies when you unhook the battery? Have you checked the fuses and wires to make sure everything is as it should be? Have you checked the locking mechanism and motors inside? Take a look at the link below to our DIY tech article on the door lock/mechanism.

Thanks !! The battery dies.....haven't tried anything yet.....noticed after being parked for awhile there is a ton of moisture built up on the windows from the humidity here....... Drying it now but was wondering if that could somehow affect the warning buzzer/ignition staying on?

Boxsters are known to have ignition switch problems.

When posting, please make sure we know the model and year of your car. Even the location helps.
