Sun Visors

Looking to replace the illuminated visors in my 01 S - found a set for 987, on close inspection they show the product code 986-561-607-00 with a white sticker showing 987-731-031-11 ? LA Dis shows the 986# is for 986 model, but a search of the 987# shows it belongs to a 05+ 987
How different can this unit be from my stock visor considering it is only differentiated by a white sticker with an 987# on it?
Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated!

Why aren't you looking "used"? These things are expensive.

Thank you for your reply! I am indeed searching "used" however I am trying to verify the part numbers that would be avail. for my 01. Seems many interchangeable part numbers for my application.

I sourced a set of non illuminated European spec visor mirrors. You know, the ones without air bag labels on them either.
It was very easy to pop the old mirrors out and the Euro mirrors just snap in.

Steve ~ Thanks for you input. My situation (like many I believe) is that the hinge for the lighted mirror has broken and the flap/cover is no longer attached. I'm wondering if the 987 visors perhaps have a different electrical connection than the 986 ? Otherwise they look identical , and to find a 986 embossed visor with a white 987 sticker/number on it confuses me.

Boxzilla, Breakage of the hinge on the sun visor mirror is a common problem but can be easily plastic welded. Its ABS and so are Leggo blocks. So black Leggo blocks are perfect as filler material.
