Intermittent starting problem Boxster 06

For quite some time I have been having this issue of my car not starting when the key is inserted and turned on. The battery has been replaced about 4 - 5 months ago, and I want to say I was having this issue prior to the battery replacement. Also replaced the batteries in both keys, this seemed to fix the problem for a short period of time.
This happens when the car is cold, also when hot, as in running errands and starting and stop a few times. In order to get the car to start when it doesn't want to, I remove the key, then slide it back in and twist if does not start then I repeat. When it starts it starts like nothing is wrong.
Any ideas as what the problem is?

Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum! Other members will likely chime in with their expertise - I'm attaching a link to a DIY tech article from our site on the ignition switch; which could be the problem. Hopefully this helps you a bit in addition to others input.
