Good 959 story
As many of you know, Bruce Canepa in Santa Cruz is federalizing most, if not all, of the 959's in the country. He's got 13 of them now and is upgrading the turbos and fuel system etc. They now make close to 500 hp and will be legal.
He's on our competition committe for Laguna Seca and we had a meeting in Monterey last week. He decided to bring one of the cars down to the meeting. Guess he also decided to do a little testing while on the way and got pulled over for doing 155. After an interesting discussion regarding the merits of the 959 etc., the officer decided his radar gun needed re-calibration and no ticket was issued. I really need a 959.

I wasn't aware of Canepa's project. It will be great to see 959's out there. I wonder if Otis Chandler still has his?
Boy that was a lucky break on the pull over, But really how could you ticket such a legendary Porsche. My SC is just glad to be a relative. Thanks for the info. ![]() Last edited by Bob's Flat-Six; 03-03-2003 at 05:52 PM.. |
