try reposting this on the main 911 forum, you will get a lot of answers,

My Carrera sometimes smokes for the first 30 secs or so in the morning. It doesn't smoke other times, or consume unusual amounts of oil, I read a lot of threads on the board and it sounds like this is pretty common and nothing to be worried about.

I don't recall the cause, but it was related to the pistons being horizontally positioned so small amouints of oil can collect in the heads overnight, rather than draining to the crankcase as with most cars. When you start the car up, this collected oil creates bluish smoke. I think BMW motorcycles (which have horizontal pistons) do the same thing.

Again, repost on the main 911 board for better answers.

Cheryl, I think this is a common occurance (mine does it also). Keep track of your oil usage. I think Porsche even says using 1 quart per 500 miles is OK.

As a new member you must post pictures of your car. What year?
