California car
I'm starting to look for another 911 Targa and I've seen a few great deals out of state (out of California). I'm not about to get one of these if they aren't Calif. smog legal and I'm wondering if the fact it might be a "calif. car" is noted on the vin #

Yeah it will be noted on the vin...just check with your local DMV

thanks for the info but I've decided to stick to a Ca. car from Ca. It might limit my choice but it will also limit travel/shipping expense.
