Porsche Crest Boring Alusils

Hello from the Cariboo area of BC. I would like some advice on who can bore Alusils to 98mm and Nikisil coat them in Canada. I have done a top end refresh and after I drive my car for the summer I would like to do the bottom end this winter. Head studs, coated bearings , rod bolts , bushings etc. 88 Carrera.jdm. sunroof delete. dark blue.

Dan.

The only one is an outfit in quebec, but retail it's no cheaper than sending it to Millennium.
I can DFL coat bearings (and ceramic), piston skirts, etc.
I'm a LN dealer, IIRC it's $300US per jug for the coating (I could be wrong that sounds high), I could ask about boring.
PM me if interested.

edit Just looked for the Quebec shop, web site is down/gone. IIRC the shop was sold to a bigger outfit.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

Thank you gentlemen. I will look into that pors1968 and i will be in touch with you regarding the coatings Mr Henry when i dig deeper into the motor. I would imagine after the exchange, shipping, insurance, and duty , it may be close to the costs of just purchasing new p/c's .

Millennium (or maybe is was US Chrome) has a Canadian affiliate in Winnipeg. I can't recall the name but if you give them a call they will give you the contact info.

I sent a set of alusils to EBS racing to have them bored to 98 mm and plated with Nikasil. The price was downright reasonable, it worked out to about 1700 Canuck Bucks landed. I also bought a set of 9.5:1 JE wedge type domes from then. Very good to deal with.

Say $2200-$2400USD for JE and replated cylinders, even with exchange still cheaper than new mahle.

What size engine? I have DFL coated 3.0-3.2 std main bearings in stock.

What's wrong with the pistons you have? I could DFL coat the skirts.
When you get plating done they finish them to your piston spec.

If it has the half fin cylinders I'd consider replacing them with NA full fin barrales.

Edit: Doh.... forgot you're boring them out.

I did not know that coating piston skirts was an option. Is this for friction reduction or to lessen piston slap? I have full fin cylinders btw. I did a half assed compression check before I took the heads off and was a consistant 165 lbs across the board. That was dry.
I have 102 000 miles on my motor. Also can you state which brand of bearings you carry? Thx.

Nikisil? How many miles? Check for out of round? Kind of would be nice to have those to bore out and save mine for originality purposes. PM if you wish.

PM me for details.
Hard to see but this piston has DFL coated skirts and ceramic tops.

I can do any bearing you want, if your old bearings are in spec I can even do DFL coating on used, I often do this on #8.
