Thumbs up Shipping your Car

I just bought an 82 SC Varioram conversion from Florida and had TFX International (based in Toronto) ship the car.

TFX was very well priced, very professional (white glove service) and very accommodating. They also dealt with all the border fees.

They delivered the car to me with the all the paperwork ready for me to take to the ministry. The import process was too easy...

I'd highly recommend using them if planning on buying a US car or if you have any shipping requirements.

James

LOL

I wanted to wait until a clear day in the spring for the first photo shoot, especially next to your Turbo.

Very nice car. I like the low and blacked-out look.
Will you put on a front license plate, or wait 'till you've been "told"?

Thanks! Can't wait until the snow is gone.

I'm not sure how I'll mount a front license plate without it looking really bad.

I'm also not sure if I want yet another reason to be pulled over...if I keep in the the glove box..

Beauty - congrats! Lots of people run without plates and like you said, keep it in the glovebox. "sorry officer, it just fell off while parked this morning". I haven't heard of anyone getting ticketed yet, but of course, now that I say that, a whole bunch will...

Very Nice machine.......

That colour will look really nice parked beside mine......I will organize a Durham area run in the spring for any who are interested in taking a run up here......I know likely Ian will come, perhaps we can coax Christien away from the mountain, and get Kirk out for a much needed mental health day too........REALLY looking forward to spring.....

Congrats again James, looks awesome!!

Thanks!!

I am totally up for a Durham region run. I dread to think that I'll even have to drive through the Toronto traffic just to get there.

Is there a mountain in Hamilton where Christian lives? Maybe he could show us around some back roads...

It's not really a mountain - they call the Niagara escarpment "the mountain" here in Hamilton. We try to organize some fun runs around here every year. PCA UCR does some as well. The Pelican get-togethers of course tend to have some more vintage cars, whereas the PCA ones tend to be a little more 996/boxster heavy.

We did I think 3 of them the summer before last - I organized one here. Last summer was a bit leaner - I was a bit busy because we had our first child in July. Terry (TCB around here) and I planned a really cool Niagara route that never ended up coming together, so we'll probably take another crack at that. Ian (imacarthur) put together an awesome run around Elora back in the fall.

I've only lived here a couple years, but I'm starting to learn some more of the back roads, and there are definitely some wicked twisties through the "mountain", however traffic is usually an issue, preventing higher speeds.

Here are a couple pics of the gathering at my place 2 years ago, before we left on the run:

(2nd last pic is my car)

COUNT ME IN!!!!!!

That's awesome Christian! (my girlfriend just looked at the pictures and asked if I am allowed to bring passengers) lol.

I'd be dreaming to think that I'll have the 87 running by then.., so I guess the answer is YES!

Absolutely - the more the merrier. In fact, last year we agreed it was probably in our best interests to make sure the significant others are not only invited but included and welcomed. Most of these runs have incorporated a bbq at someone's house or lunch/dinner at a restaurant. There's lots of time for socializing, meeting new people, etc. and conversation only partially revolve around cars.

We look forward to it.

This summer is going to be fantastic. It must be exhilerating riding in a group of several 911s. Must draw a lot of attention from by-standers.

Great Photos !!!!!

I wish I had been around for those runs......I didn't even get the targa until August, and then, the bug bit so hard, I had to have the 930.......and the right car came along, and the rest is history.....I want to do some runs this summer for sure.....and would be happy to organize something for the Durham area, there are tons of nice roads, great small towns, and I have plenty of room at my place.....something to look forward to for sure !!!!

Mark,

That's a trend that seems quite common, at least with my experience. I bought the 87 Carrera, and then HAD TO HAVE A 3.6 VARIORAM conversion.

It just blind-sided me. It's all just a blur now.. lol

Anyways, I am up for meeting a bunch of times this summer. I'd offer to organize a Toronto meet-up, but the inevitable traffic would probably be a deterrent.

James

James, are you aware of the weekly get-together behind the Chapters across from Sherway Gardens?
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=288619
Not too many showing up in this weather, but still some every week apparently. I dropped by a few back in the summer/fall and saw plenty of cool cars.

Have you been to the track yet?
