Thinking of Pro Polishing...
Hello folks,
I have recently entered into Porscheworld as I have decided to move out of the 'safe' world of owning and restoring domestic V8s since the '70s. Although Porsche has an unbelievable lineup of super-cars to choose from, I unfortunately fall into an economical bracket that hinders my ability to acquire one of Porsche's more sought-after models, so I have settled for a beautiful little '84 944 that is in remarkable condition (other than a down-shift and reverse vibration in the rear-end that I haven't figured out yet.) But while this 944 may be considered an underclass model designed by Porsche for the masses, it's still my little piece of automotive art, and the only thing that is disappointing about this 'soon to be' pristine 1st edition 944, is that some inexperienced cretin has machine polished a few trim parts and panel contours right down to the primer. Well, to a guy who's automotive passion falls into the category of "factory original cars" this can be a huge issue as I prefer to restore original paint if possible. This brings me to my topic as I would like to get some input from the Porsche owner as to his/her opinions or insight. I am a veteran "to the trade" Custom Automotive Polisher who has been restoring and correcting custom and factory paintwork for the better part of thirty years for Rolls/Bentley Aston, Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes, 2 auto auctions, a number of custom body shops and detail shops. So I'd like to ask the members of this forum if they would benefit from, or ever utilize a service that focused solely on Master "Superfinish" paint polishing, factory/original paint restoration techniques, wet-sand blocking, scuff and scratch removal and the ultimate paint protection service available. I am considering the start-up of a small shop to offer this trade service as a retail enterprise in the Toronto/GTA North area in spring '08. |

You might want to drop by the rennlist Canada forum and post your question there - there's a lot more local GTA traffic there than here.
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=98 BTW, from someone who owns a vintage 911 and 944 and has driven every variant of 911 out there, from longhoods to 996 turbos, don't ever feel your 944 is insignificant! Drop by Mosport and watch the well-prepped and well-driven 944s put up some impressive numbers! Better yet get out there driving yourself!
