Canadian tire also has a sale on the Ctek battery charger/conditioner. It's on for $60 as opposed to the regular price of $90.

@ P.A. these are special buy which mean no rain check, so unless its next door don't bother.

Drove 40 minutes this morning only to find out that the T-Bolt Clam I was after were the only size not in stock despite the fact that their computer shows 3 in stock.

So I bought a few low price stuff and was looking for the Infrared Temperature Gun @ $19.99 http://www.princessauto.com/pal/product/8400038/Thermometers/Infrared-Thermometerv... Yes, Special buy so I was SoL

At least at CDN Tire you can get a rain check. Just saying

Great Combo

When I got the car, I got the 409 pieces kit for the garage and a portable one (similar to the one in the add), for the car.

JJ, what bugs me about the CTC sets or any like them are that the socket ranges are incomplete.

I just picked up a deep impact socket set from CTC. 16 mm and 18 mm are missing in the range and as uncommon a size that they are, I know I've borrowed an 18 mm deep impact socket from my neighbor last year. That set was returned to CTC.

I certainly don't need impact sockets for the Porsche, buy I do for the year-round daily driver, so I bought the Sunex 2646 1/2” Dr. 26 Piece Metric Deep Impact Socket Set from ToolTopia.

All sockets are 6-point. Sizes go from 10 mm to 36 mm (less 31 mm) and fit nicely into a very sturdy plastic case, now with 4 latches.

No need of going to a neighbor with this set...

Continuous sockets coverage:

4 to 19, + 21, 22 & 24mm

4/16 to 1 2/16, + 1 4/16" with a lot of x/32" in between including a 3/32"

16mm

18mm

I know, but unfortunately some of the complete metric sets also have SAE sizing in the same set that I do not care to stock in my tool chest.

Do you have a complete set of deep metric impact sockets.

Coincidence JJ.

I'm just looking at a Miller Synchrowave 250 DX or Miller Dynasty 350. The downside is that they go for about $6K and $10K respectively when fully equipped.

I prefer a TIG welder.

OK. not technically for the garage. but c'mon, we all 'need' one of these.

Velocity Gun | Princess Auto

also they have an inspection camera. awfully handy. 9.5mm head will fit thorough a spark plug hole.

Black Friday Deals?

Any great Black Friday deals out there?

I saw this in the Canadian Tire Flyer (page 41). Noco Smart Genius Chargers

Does anyone own one of these or know anything about these battery chargers?

Other than having come across that make before, no, I don't know anything about it. You can check out their specs, but the following paragraph pretty well sums it up.

Having tested many battery chargers in the lab at work, the one thing battery charger manufacturers are very good at is giving you hope and making many claims and statements.

For example "Powered by Noco's VosFX Processor". So what! If it isn't programmed to do what it should, who cares.

Another claim they often make is bringing a battery back to life, yes, but from what state? I have never seen a heavily sulphated battery brought back to a useful life. If they are bringing anything back to life, it is a deeply discharged battery and even then, it has been damaged for life depending how long it has been in the deeply discharged state.

Want good battery life?
  • Make sure your vehicle's charging system is spot on and put an on-board voltmeter in your car so that you know what is going on.
  • Make sure to keep your battery fully charged when not in use.

I get 16 years out of my batteries that way.

And the Xantrex Truecharge 2 battery chargers are the best I have tested. We bought over a hundred of them to put into use at the various facilities.

For 12V batteries: 14.4V and 14.7V end voltages for regular batteries and AGM/cold temperatures. They say good for all batteries, although I'd want to go a bit lower in voltage for a GEL battery.

None of these should be used if storing a vehicle in hot temperatures (not usually the case). None of them have a hot temperature setting; only the Xantrex does.
