Importing question
Don't know where I heard or read this and don't know if it is or was true but I believe a car coming from the states has to be 6 years old or newer, or 15 years old or older.
Is this correct? Finn |
nope - Over 15yrs means no RIV program, newer mean it enter the program and has to be a qualified car - take a look at their website: Registrar of Imported Vehicles
It lists each car and any modifications that are required. Some cars, either not meant for the US market or other specialized cars, may not be eligible to be imported - ie US market Lotus Elises Regards, Andrew M |
I agree with Andrew. I'm not aware of any 6 year rule.
If its under 15 it fals under the RIV program as he wrote and you have to cross your t's and dot your i's. Not a problem so long as you follow the rules. Over 15 and you just pay your gst and pst register it and drive it. |
I have a buddy that owns a GM dealership in Detroit, he imports cars all the time, they have to be 6 months old (ownership must be to someone other than a dealer for at least 6 months)
